Back to Navigator Mordecai
Born in the flotilla of Clan Ben'yam, Anastasia was discovered to have the Third Eye that marked her as one to play a key role in the Navigator House's future. However, as she grew up it was clear that she did not possess the Navigator gene as strongly as a Navigator requires to be a successful candidate to work on client ships. Her Third eye peered weakly into the Warp, and for a Navigator her body was blessedly free of other mutations.
Still, a full-fledged daughter of the Clan with the third eye meant that she could present herself on behalf the Clan in negotiations with the rest of the Imperium. Her otherwise normal-looking appearance meant she could regularly meet with others, while the presence of the Third Eye reminded parties that she was speaking for a powerful entity.
During an extended layover in the Calixis Center, Navigator Mordecai requested additional resources from the Clan to help him with his contract with House Drake. The Drake Dynasty was on the ascendant and the Flotilla was benefiting handsomely. Several Clan members were sent to Scintilla to join up with Navigator Mordecai to grow his entourage, including Anastasia who was there to help boost House Drake's negotiating abilities.
Duties
Her official duties largely revolve around the assistance of establishing trade relations with planets and stations. She's had much more training in dealing with non-voidborn people and thus lacks much of the animus and distrust that her fellows have of the planetbound. (Not calling them 'dirt-worshippers' to their face helps.) While on the ship, she is available for consultation and advice with numerous matters -- particularly with the Imperial military forces. She attends Navigator Mordecai and is often the one seen quietly holding the Clan's standard behind Mordecai.
