Characters in Rivendell
- Gondril
A young stonemason and artist, Gondril asked Gilithion to escort her to inspect the Last Bridge. Although not the most adept, she did not blanche in helping defend against the troll Amos and his bandit companions.
- Isiliel
Isiliel is Gilithion's twin sister. She provided a warm welcome to the company when all arrived safely in Imladris. Gilithion recently named her as his heir.
- Hiraval
A seasoned Ranger, Hiraval fought bravely at Pelennor. Even before that battle, he was well respected for his generosity. These days, however, the proud man expresses anger and impatience at recovering his familial estate. At times he comes off as arrogant, or even disdainful, but he confessed wanting to provide a home for his son and benefit the King: the estate is in a key location near Weathertop.
- Edrahil
The fourteen year old son of Hiraval, Edrahil is looking for opportunities to prove himself in this new age. He expresses a unique curiosity to know other cultures of the free peoples and has especially struck up conversations with Laramie. Edrahil has not traveled much (for a ranger). Edrahil is capable, calm, and energetic. Despite his youth, he is very well trained with the bow as befits his people and living conditions.
- Berelas
Berelas is the current bearer of the Ring of Seven Jewels, a ring forged in Eregion in ages past. She - and the ring - are equally haunted by a Cold Shade from Gorlanc. Berelas indicated she had once been held captive and was freed by Gorlanc, able to think freely for the first time in ages thanks to his sorcery. She was set to the task of retrieving the ring for Gorlanc and returning it to him with Hirlinion as her guard. After seeing the deaths brought about by the Cold Shade, Berelas has turned her loyalty away from Gorlanc and to help the Company. Berelas also helped cure Blossom Undertree of her poisoning at the hands of Gorlanc. By suggestion of the party, Berelas traveled to Rivendell with her ring so that both could be recovered from the shadow.
Characters in the Shire
- Peony and Mark Brandybuck
Peony is one of Laramie's sisters and lives with her family, including husband Mark Brandybuck. Peony stood up to the challenge of taking in Larry Appledore and hiding him from potentially sorcerous harm.
Characters in and around Bree-land
- Halleth
Kick-ass aunty amount the Rangers, Haleth is famed for her skill with the sword. Until the return of the king, her usual haunts had been further East, to guarding the valley of the Greyflood (and entry to Rivendell) against Orcs and Trolls. On an errand with Mallor to the Bree-land and Shire-area, she was happy to help the Company look into Uathach and Gorlanc, sadly leading to the Ranger Mallor's demise. Halleth continues to monitor Uathach.
- Jack the Forsaken
Innkeeper of the Forsaken Inn, Jack came into the role when he found the old innkeeper had left and he was the only one left in the Inn. Seems to be the way it goes. Jack employs one boy to help out with tasks but does most of the work in the tumble-down inn himself.
- Hirlinion
Hirlinion is a henchman of the mysterious personage called Gorlanc. Hirlinion is fanatically loyal and after the Cold Shade found the ranger Mallor, Hirlinion cut the ranger's throat to ensure they would not be followed. Hirlinion attempted to do himself in when taken into custody but failed (he did succeed at poisoning himself though). Hirlinion was found guilty by the Reeve of Bree but was broken out of jail by his compatriots. However, he met his ultimate demise with Gorlanc in the cellars of the Undertree smial.
- The Four Dwarves: Vig, Vogar, Narvi, and Narvig
Vig and Vogar are elder dwarves and veterans, although Vogar was wounded and requires constant care and monitoring. This care drove Vig into debt and he travels with Morwinion as a tinker to pay off the debt. He has been joined by his sons Narvi and Narvig. Narvi is responsible and often the liaison with others while the quite young Narvig is exceedingly merry. Narvig was the one who hatched the plan to steal the Ring of Seven Jewels to pay off the debt.
- Edoric and Eoin
Edoric is a guide and had been hired by Mirabar for passage from Laketown to Bree. This is a run he has done often, though he is a Bree-lander. Edoric hired on Eoin for help on the return journey, a teen on his own first adventure and also from Bree-land.
- Mirabar of Dorwinion
Ancient, crow-like, and covered in furs, Mirabar is a trader from Dorwinion and holds Vig's debts to care for his brother Vogar. The otherwise miserly Mirabar is considering whether to pass on or forgive the debt as, after seeing Gorlanc's cold shade, he believes he will soon die.
- Albert Undertree (and family)
Young Albert is the princeling of the prosperous Undertree family of Staddle. Though his sister is the apple of his grandfather Alphonsus' eye, Albert has earned some esteem as he was able to keep his cool under captivity and helped provide the company with enough information to facilitate the family's rescue from the villainous Gorlanc and Hirlinion. Sadly, one cousin of his died (Tom Breewich) attempting an escape. Albert's parents are Alphonsus Undertree (the second - never junior) and Geneva Tunnelly Undertree. One aunt (Abigail Undertree Breewich) and cousin (Ham Breewich) continue to live in the Undertree smial.
- Tad Tillfield
Tad Tillfield is a young and energetic Warden of Bree. He had been concussed by compatriots of Hirlinion when they broke the villain out of Bree's jail. Tad recovered a bit early from his concussion in order to lead the group of wardens in the rescue of the Undertrees during the raid against Gorlanc and his followers who were holed up in the smial.
- Tomas Heatherton
Tomas' uncle Timeas Heatherton was once in Gorlanc's band of treasure seekers but was set to rights by the ranger Mallor. Timeas still reaped some benefits from the old association, though, as he continued to possess the map to a treasure the team had found near ruins known as the King's Seat deep in the Midgewater Marshes. Tomas possesses the map currently, however, the Company did their best to seal off the barrow, or at least the lower tombs.
- Gror
Gror is the only remaining survivor of Gorlanc's original band of treasure seekers. With the Company in Bree, he seized his opportunity to take as much remaining treasure as he could carry from the barrow at the King's Seat. Where he has gone, the Company knows not.
Characters on the Greenway
- Kyna and Braden
Kyna and Bradon live in Southern Tharbad and are devoted to building up the village. The two have built a bunkhouse and proper dock and offer lodging, meals, and pasage to the Northern shores.
- Uathach the Seer
Leader of the Company of the Wain, Uathach plays the game of being a seer from the far South, but may actually have Numenorean lineage through Gondor. It is ambiguous as to whether she has genuine abilities but follows traditions with seeing stones and crystals. Whatever her abilities, she is a committed minion for Gorlanc, the mysterious power in the North.
- Thelred the Rider
An apparently disgraced Rider of Rohan, Thelred is Uathach's closest bodyguard, protector, and errand-runner. Thelred is a talented horseman and performs feats for the Company of the Wain. Notably, Thelred is mute, having lost a tongue for reasons unknown to the Company.
- Larry and Leonard Appledore
Brothers Larry and Leonard are brothers and fireworks sellers from Combe. The two learned a few tricks of their trade from Gandalf. While Leonard remains in the Company of the Wain (and without knowledge of their goings-on), Larry learned some of the company of the wain's secrets, was taken captive, and freed by the Company. Larry Appledore is currently laying low at the hobbit hole of one of Laramie's sisters, Peony Brandybuck.
Characters in Isengard and Fangorn
Characters in Gondor
- Imhar, the Dunlending
A fine hunter, Imhar tracked the snow troll for over a month in winter to its last lair. Several members of his party were survivors of the snow troll's attacks. Although reticent, he was willing to journey to Osgiliath and Minas Tirith if their example could further positive relationships between his people and Gondor.
- Léora of Lamedon
A woman of Gondor whose posse helped hunt the snow troll. She and her posse had been hunting Belfan, the Captain of the Gaurd in Osgiliath, as he is believed to have murdered Léora's brother, a minstrel.
- Captain Belfan
Deceased. A former minstrel who joined the guard and rose through the ranks during the War. He was known for his capricious viciousness and killed another minstrel for having "stolen his song." He hated Dunlendings and was eaten by a snow troll.
- Dwimler, son of Dwier
A dwarf formerly of Erebor, now of Aglarond, the Glittering Caves. Dwimler is head of the dwarf team reconstructing the roads in Minas Tirith.
- Gûriel of Mirkwood
An elven lady overseeing planting in Minas Tirith. She has a small team from Mirkwood, however, she related that more will come to help recover Ithilien when it is safe to do so, as that was an express desire of Legolas.
Characters in Rohan
- Odovacar and Mathilda
Traders from the Toft that the company met on the way to Edoras. Both in this husband-wife duo are of middle age and quite experienced travelers, although Mathilda looks far younger than her years and is more taciturn than her husband. Both are wary of strangers.
- Rynelda Fast-rider
A messenger in Éogar's éored, Rynelda travels light and her hose is fleet. She bore the message of Esfeld's abduction and Éogar's muster to Edoras.
- Sunnifa
A serving girl in the golden hall of Meduseld, Sunnifa has become a favorite to the newqueen. Originally from a prosperous family, there is an indication that her uncle wasted the families fortunes in a disaster rather than a slow trickle ruining the family over time. Her elder sisters and cousins were married off for money, however as she was quite young, Sunnifa was sent to Meduseld. As such, she is familiar with the royal family and speaks Sindarin as well as Rohirric and Westron.
- Ashgar of Westfold and Maerstan of Eastfold
Once rivals lobbing poetic insults and challenges at each other during a series of flytes at Entwade, these two have now begun a friendship. They also helped calm down and lead Blódred away from Esmund and Mildryd's reunion. As the companions helped them see the folly of their actions, and presided over the reunion, they continue to be welcome in either rider's camp.
- Blódred
A rider at the Entwade who was still clinging to the old feuds, even in the pressence of Mildryd and Esmund's reunion.
- Caswelun and Rhonwen
Caswelun and Rhonwen are twins, member of the Iron-Folk, a rebel tribe from the northern reaches of the West-march. Caswelun has brought together mixed Dunlending, Rohirric, and Gaesela raiders to take advantage of the strife in the West-march and Westfold. While Caswelun is charismatic and daring, Rhonwen is steely and looks after the others, retreating so they can live to fight another day. The twins are growing increasingly at odds with each other as Caswelun continues on his agenda.
- Léothere Five Fingers and Bída Softsong
Léothere is an old minstrel, cast out from Théoden's court by Gríma Wormtongue. Though there is a new king, Léothere is cautious about returning to Edoras. While Léothere will happily and cannily swap stories, song, and gossip, he is a bit cantankerous and leaves most of normal conversation to Bída, his young apprentice. Bída has hopes of singing in the golden hall someday.
