Katerina Dhomhnaill is the Captain of the U.S.S. Lovell and, due to the rapid expansion of Starfleet, the only veteran officer on the ship. She is a critical NPC and often serves as the "Quest-giver" of the game.

History

Katerina was born and raised in the capital world of the Deneva colony by her scientist mother, her father having died a starship accident when she was very young. The tragic loss, however, did nothing to drive her away from space. If anything it drew her more to it. An almost-graduate of the Deneva Institute of Science and Technology, she never completed the final year of her masters due to her acceptance at Starfleet Academy, which she joined with the intent of becoming a science officer specializing in physics. As strong as her science skills were, the academy discovered her strongest talents lay with leadership and she was moved into the command track. Upon graduation, she was assigned as the first officer of the S.S. Beagle, a near-space research and observation vessel. After distinguishing herself during two tours of duty she was offered command of the newly constructed U.S.S. Lovell.

Personality

Honest and tenacious, Katerina exemplifies many fo the qualities Starfleet looks for in its command officers. She feels a deep sense of responsibility both to her crew and to the ship as a whole. A tendency towards obsession, particularly when it comes to teasing out mysteries, can drive her occasionally put value discovery over safety. A few close calls and time butting head with a self-assured captain has lead her to a well-deligated command style, where her officers are expected to use their expertise.
