Daisuke is a widower, who is the head priest at the Misuzu Hachiman shrine. He has not aged gracefully, already balding, with early wrinkles deepened by responsibilities. He was a bit of a womanizer, before he fell in love with Natsu's mother, but after her death he hasn't seemed interested in remarrying, and has dedicated himself to his role as head priest. He inherited his position from his father, and while before he was trying to convince nephews and distant cousins to take over when he is gone, after a meeting with Okuni Abe, he has started on a more progressive approach to this problem; pushing Natsu to take her studies more seriously, and not so subtly trying to get her interested in one of the universities recognized by the Association of Shinto Shrines...
