"The Engineer" is a gadgeteer superhero whose day job is a prototype engineer at Ford. Most of his inventions and innovations are too ahead of their time to be integrated into the mainstream design of early 21st century automobiles. One example of this was an ultra-compact method to provide lift and modest flight capabilities without the weight of a jet engine. Although promising, initial inquiries by regulators proved to be its downfall. Because regulators were unable to understand the technology, they deemed it unsuitable for automobile use because they wouldn't be able to write regulations regarding its use, impact, or manufacture.
