Anggun Tjandrakusuma is an Indonesian-born intelligence agent relatively new to Blackeagle Security & Investigation Group.
She was born in Jakarta in 1980 to culturally chinese Indonesians, with her father being an American citizen who went back to Indonesia to marry a wife chosen by his family. They had a daughter whom they named Anggun. Her middle name, Fatima, comes from the fact that Indonesia is the world's largest Muslim country and they wanted to pay respect to that. Her last name comes from the fact that their family name, Zeng, was outlawed in Indonesia and all Chinese families forced to pick more "Indonesian" names during the Shuarto dictatorship. (This is why her alias names uses variations of her given name, middle name, and her two family names.)
Being born to a relatively wealthy families (by Indonesian standards), she was given an excellent education and excelled in her studies. As she came close to university age, her father moved the family to America where she could get a better education (at least according to her father). Heavy competition led to a spot at Yale for her B.A. where she graduated summa cum laude with a degree in History. Desiring some international experience, she followed it up with an MSc. and DSc at Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar. During this time she studied Psychology and International Relations, who fields that ended up netting her a spot with the CIA as an analyst.
She spent several years there being mentored by a seasoned agent who thought Anggun's background with history and international relations would help provide context to some of the world's hotspots. At first, she concentrated on analysis reports and background prospectuses, but she soon moved to field offices and embassies for local, on-site experience and support. Black Eagle eventually lured her CIA mentor away, and before long he brought her with him. There, she was given more hands-on training for field work, where she now applies her academic background to more immediate problems for considerably better pay.
Black Eagle Cell Leader
Due to her writing abilities (from her degrees), fluency in english and an almost complete lack of desire by the others to deal with corporate bureaucracy, Anggun was selected by her team as the local cell leader. She is now responsible for her team, including negotiations of outside contracts, and reporting back to Black Eagle Corporate on completion of those jobs. She does receive an extra share of the team's proceeds for the responsibility.
Partly because of her added duties, she has enrolled in a highly-ranked online Executive MBA degree program from the University of Florida. The program expects that candidates will be working and accounts for periods of time where they will be unavailable. This suits Black Eagle work just fine. The classwork in Finance and Business administration are directly applicable to her new position as Team Leader and will provide additional clout with senior management.
Family
Angie's family has settled in Miami, which means her relocation has increased her visits home and interaction with her parents and brother. She has a sibling-rivalry relationship with her brother, partly due to their mother's preference in his life choices. Her brother is married, a "real" doctor (i.e. a medical doctor), and regularly showers their mother with gifts. Angie, on the other hand, is unmarried, a "doctor" (i.e. a non-medical doctor), with a job she can't speak about most of the time.
Recent events with WIJ that led to her mother's car being blown up and her favorite Yanni CD being destroyed required her to fly Yanni in for a private visit. Her brother one-upped this by buying their mother a new car.
