Genesys: Rolling Threshold
Basic Rules
When suffering damage, add the damage total to your wound value as normal. When your Damage Total reaches or exceeds your Wound Threshold, you suffer Critical Injury. Roll a d50 and consult the critical injury table, then subtract your Wound threshold from your Damage Total. If your Damage Total is still above your Wound Threshold, add +10 to the severity of the critical injury and reduce your Damage Total again. Repeat until your Damage Total is under your Wound Threshold. Add +10 to the severity for each pre-existing critical injury or level of vicious as normal.
If you activate your weapon's critical effect, roll the critical injury with a d100 instead of a d50 before checking the Damage Total against the Wound Threshold (meaning the first reach-or-exceed would provide a +10 bonus.)
If using twin weapons, autofire, or other methods of dealing multiple damages in one action, each instance of damage is checked and rolled separately. However, do not count critical injuries generated by the action for the purpose of increasing the severity of later critical injuries from the same action.
Changes to Medical Rolls
The difficulty of reducing Damage Totals (i.e. healing "wounds") is equal to the difficulty of the highest Critical Injury they have suffered (thus Simple (-) if they have not suffered any Critical Injury). Healing Items decrease Damage Totals as normal (5,4,3,2,1 or 3,3,3,3,3)
Character / NPC adjustments
- Reduce the starting wound threshold of all characters by 7.
- Change the effect of the Toughness talent to "Gain +1 Wound Threshold."
