Even the least of Rogue Traders possesses wealth beyond the measure of the common man. Unlike the wide masses of the galaxy, even those with the connections and authority of Inquisitorial Acolytes, Rogue Traders... In addition, a Rogue Traders finances are constantly shifting with the tides of fortune, the will of creditors, and the grandness of their latest exploit.
Wealth and Renown are two separate but intertwined values applied to a Rogue Trader dynasty. Each is measured by ranks counting upward from zero to five, similar to skills or attributes.
Wealth measures the strength of the Dynasty's income sources and leverageable assets, providing an indication of both how much 'available currency' the Rogue Trader could develop as well as their ability to secure lines of credit for large purchases. While Wealth is most commonly used for acquisitions, it can be used socially, as displays and generosity can sway many.
Renown represents a combination of the fame, notoriety, and the value of the Dynastic name. While Renown it most commonly used socially to create an impression, it has its uses for acquisitions in the form of goodwill gifts or an inflated sense of loan security.
An Asset is the term used for anything the Rogue Trader Dynasty obtains that cost a point of wealth to maintain. These are huge investments, typically requiring a consistent input of money to keep operational. The number of Assets one controls, however, is often more of a measure of a Dynasty then it's available Wealth.
A Windfall refers to any item or items of sufficient value to have a momentary influence on a Rogue Trader's finances. These are often items of intrinsic value that a Rogue Trader acquires in their travels, but could also come from selling items previously obtained by Aquisition.
Aquisition
Buying at Rank 0
It is quite possible for a newly starting or down-on-their-luck Dynasty to have a 0 Wealth. When this is the case, they can only make acquisitions if they have some other way to acquire at least 1 positive die. (Commonly by using a Windfall.) These Dynasties can still buy any products that don't require a roll - Wealth 0 is still more money then most people will ever see.
