Summer 1224

Summary

  • Aduro writes to Magni and Obscurus Ignis obliquely referencing a Flambeau event to try and indicate how long they have. They are unable to properly recall the story, so Obscurus Ignis asks his pater. They discover that they have six seasons to prepare, with a 1226 timeline to fight.
  • Following a note from Julissa's note that her grandfather, Maribus of Mercere, was last seen heading upriver to Lake Vyrnwy. Geoffrey organizes a party, taking Angharad's court for a meet-and-greet. They find a solitary tower in the lake, the home of Morgana of Merinita and her filia. They invite her to the covenant for a dinner and visit. Geoffrey suspects she and Maribus were lovers before he disappeared.
  • Aesa scouts the lake with her boat and finds a sunken boat in the north end of Lake Vyrnwy. The magi return and use magic to reach the lake floor to investigate. It appears to be Maribus' boat. A faerie/elemental calling itself the King of the Lake approaches them in a whirlpool and demands they account for themselves. They ask for the return of the owner, which the King demands blood of a descendant of the owner (i.e. Julissa) or the vis harvest of one year from Maribus' underwater lab. They opt to turn over the vis.
